During a sunny day participants at the event “Fix the weeds, fertilise circularly, reduce nitrous oxide emissions” gathered at Lanna forskningsstation in Saleby in Sweden at an event arranged by Gröna Möten together with the projects Oper8 and Climate Farm Demo. During the day Thomas Börjesson presented Oper8 for the audience.
Row hoe demonstration in the field
There were two stations at today’s demonstration of row hoeing where the participants got to see the results row hoeing by Garford hoe in the field.
1) Garford row hoe – Håkan Brolin, Dataväxt
2) Einböck weed hoeing was demonstrated by Anton Björkqvist, Lantmännen and Tom Hellström, Einböck.

We also listened to Tomas Johansson, Agroväst, who talked about “New row hoeing technology for weed control in cereals where different row distances and different hoeing proximity to the crop affect weeds and crop”, results from an ÖKS Interreg project in which Agroväst, RISE and SLU participated.

The Climate Farm Demo project was presented in the field at one of the stations by Andrea von Essen, Agroväst. They gave an account of climate adaptation and reduced climate impact in agriculture, where a total of 1,500 farms in Europe are participating in the project. Sofia Delin, SLU gave the participant information about nitrous oxide emissions.
In Sweden, 25 farms are participating and Lanna Farm is involved as an experimental farm.

Oksana Valetska and Helena Aronsson from SLU present the Interreg project CiNURGi, which is a field trial where the results of studies of different types of bio-based fertilisers highlight differences in plant nutrient effects in comparison with mineral fertilisers.
SLU and RISE are involved in the Interreg project CiNURGi, in which the Baltic Sea countries are collaborating to increase the production and use of circular fertilisers. We do this by demonstrating working solutions, investigating the market for circular fertilisers and testing products in lab studies and in pot and field trials.
The day ended with a prize-giving ceremony at the tip between the different stations in the field.
