Hot foam application for weed control is a new non-chemical technique for controlling weeds in vineyards and is an efficient alternative to traditional herbicide use. A biodegradable hot foam, consisting of water, plant oils and sugars, is applied directly to the weeds at temperatures of 95–100°C. The foam insulates the heat, allowing it to break down plant cell structures and kill the weeds.
