Intercropping is not so common in Swedish horticulture but the concept may become more useful in a changing climate. In a Swedish project, researchers and advisors have worked for a couple of seasons to develop horticultural concepts adapted to conditions with more extreme weather such as drought and higher rainfall. In the demo described here, rye was grown as a pre-crop that was chopped and covered the ground for subsequent white cabbage cultivation.
