Meet Associate professor Daniele Antichi, PhD on Oper8 experimental vineyard MonteRosola, in Volterra Italy, where participants at the Oper8 annual meeting learned about weed control in a vineyard.

Professor Antichi describes the experiments to establish subclover under the rows in the vineyard as an alternative way to control weeds. The subclover is established in fall-winter season once every 4 years. The species self reseeds itself in late spring and its seeds germinate in early fall, giving birth to the new plants that colonise the soil in the next year and it prevails for 3-4 years. After that the subclover stand becomes too scarce and the soil needs to be tilled again and resown.
