Integrados en una rotaci\u00f3n de tres a\u00f1os, suponen el establecimiento del mantillo con un cereal de primavera, seguido de la siembra directa de un cereal de oto\u00f1o en el mantillo. Suelen utilizarse especies como el tr\u00e9bol, cuya selecci\u00f3n y gesti\u00f3n deben ser cuidadosas para evitar p\u00e9rdidas de rendimiento y da\u00f1os causados por las babosas. Las ventajas son la fijaci\u00f3n del nitr\u00f3geno, el apoyo a la biodiversidad y la reducci\u00f3n de los costes de los insumos. Sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta problemas como el control de las malas hierbas perennes y la competencia de los cultivos.
